GREENFIELD — If you would like to know what is happening with the town’s Sustainable Master Plan and would like to have some input, meet the Master Plan Advisory Committee on the Town Common on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
The group will once again be talking about what Greenfield might look like 5, 10, 20 or maybe even 50 years from now.
It is the second of three community gatherings the committee will hold.
The child-friendly event has a goal of cultivating even more ideas and strategies that may be used in developing the town’s new sustainable master plan.
Residents, as well as people who shop or play in Greenfield, are invited to stop on the common, wander through a dozen interactive booths, and talk to committee members to discuss ideas and how they might eventually be implemented.
Topics will include housing, transportation, education, recreation, natural and historic resources, land use and town facilities.
Those who attend will also be asked to cast their votes and share thoughts, ideas and strategies on how to make Greenfield a better place to live in years to come.
Planning Board Chairwoman Roxann Wedegartner, who is heading the effort, said the committee is looking for new ideas and people’s reactions to ideas that have already been proposed.
“No lectures to listen to, no meetings to sit at,” said Wedegartner of the Thursday event. “Come and chat with committee members and neighbors, share your ideas, play some games and enjoy.”
The town began discussing ideas for creating a new, greener sustainable master plan last December.
The committee held its first community idea gathering in the spring.
Members of the committee have been collecting data, setting goals and brainstorming strategies all year and would like to share them with the public.
Some of the words and phrases that have come up over and over during the process are: resilience, vibrancy and quality of life.
Many members of the Greening Greenfield Committee, as well as other town leaders, have also been working on the new plan.
